JSTrio feat. Jeff Sipe, Milkdrive, LEAF, Town Mountain…

Hey y’all, just waking up after a great weekend at LEAF festival in Black Mountain, NC. Some highlights were Appalachia Rising, The Dusters, Leo Kotke, and of course, queen Wanda Jackson! Palmyra and I also ran in the Rock The Quarry 4-mile run on Saturday morning (my legs are still not working correctly).

The year is winding down for me musically, but there are going to be a few big excitements coming up for the JS Trio! The first is a show at MoDaddys Nov.20th with MILKDRIVE. They are one of my favorite new bands with my favorite new band name. Had a blast playing with these guys at IBMA (had an epic jam in the stairwell). Stoked to be sharing the stage with them. www.milkdrive.com

December 16th, at Jack of the Wood the ever-fluid lineup of the JSTrio is going to feature Jeff Sipe, one of my all time drum heros! Yes!

Also working on a Stickley Brothers show in Chapel Hill, more info TBA.

Town Mountain will be gearing up for a weekend of shows Dec.2nd with a show at the Grey Eagle in Asheville, and Barley’s Taproom in Knoxville Dec.3rd. Our long lost brother Bobby Britt will be coming home from Boston to join us for these shows.

Thats it for now, namaste! hehe haha!

Jack of the Wood Show!

Thanks to everyone for coming out to Jack of the Wood last night! One of my favorite shows to date, I was lucky enough to be joined by Mike Ashworth on drums, and Lyndsay Pruett on Fiddle. Had a good time fooling around with some new material from Nirvana’s Come As You Are, to surf songs like Pipeline and Walk Don’t Run , some original material from Lyndsay and myself and some good old fashioned country with special guest Robert Grier. Oh yeah I forgot we played Reggae Wagonwheel too :-) Just like LRB said, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. JSTrio will be at MoDaddy’s this Friday night, Sept. 2nd with Mason Porter. come on by if you get a chance! After that headed up to Louisville, KY to play Saturday with Town Mountain at the Louisville Bluegrass Music Festival, and then opening for Steep Canyon Rangers at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC on Sunday. Good Times!
