Jon is psyched to be joining long time friends / old bandmates Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon), and Travis Book (The Infamous Stringdusters), for TWO nights of bluegrass with The Travelin’ McCorys at Isis Restaurant and Music hall, December 15th and 16th. Then again on December 17th at the 4th Annual Casting for Hope Winter Music Fest in Morganton, NC.
Another Bluegrass treat that’s happening this winter is the Bluegrass Generals on January 6th and 7th at Cervantes in Denver. This is a bluegrass super group consisting of Andy Hall and Chris Pandolfi (The Infamous Stringdusters), Paul Hoffman (Greensky Bluegrass), a special to be announced guest, and Jon Stickley!
We are so excited about the project, we’ve got a brand new EP called Triangular ready to ship out to everyone the day we meet our Kickstarter goal, and have our studio time booked for the new full length album we’ll be recording with Dave King (The Bad Plus, who also produced Lost at Last).
Start Date: 10/10/16 – End Date: 11/11/16
Please help us spread the word and share the Kickstarter!
Folk Alley, who premiered the video, writes “the name of the game is harmonics. Jon Stickley’s guitar harmonics and Lyndsay Pruett’s violin harmonics twine seamlessly together, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere and the end result is a bit unnerving in its intensity.”
Jon wrote ‘Rice Dream’ after waking up from a dream about Tony Rice, one of his biggest guitar influences. Folk Alley explains, “He woke up one morning thinking about one of his heroes, the great Tony Rice. Sitting at the table with a hot cup of coffee, bleary-eyed and trying to remember just what, exactly, the dream was all about, Stickley focused on a container of the lactose-free milk product that was right in front of his eyes. It’s called “Rice Dream” and…well, there it was. A new tune started running through his head.”
